Friends of Sia’h Shalom–North America

Yosra Elkamalat poses with Rabbis Tara and Meir Feldman. Last month, Yosra, a 17-year-old Muslim, Arab, Bedouin from Rahat and the daughter of Elham Elkamalat, who has participated in Sia’h Shalom, met in Jerusalem with participants of Project Understanding, an interfaith Jewish-Catholic group of teens from Long Island.

Rabbis Tara and Meir Feldman have been welcomed into the Sia’h Shalom team to head up Friends of Sia’h Shalom–North America. After two trips to Long Island (New York), the Berkshires (Massachusetts) and Houston (Texas), in July and December, an exciting North American Sia’h Shalom community is being created. Friends of Sia’h Shalom initiatives include:

  • Building bridges within the Jewish community, in partnership with UJA-Long Island
  • Creating a Sia’h Shalom Quarterly Newsletter
  • Engaging a community of Sia’h Shalom learners through monthly virtual sessions
  • Fundraising to enable Sia’h Shalom to expand our impact
  • Creating a framework for intra-Jewish encounters in North America to promote healing and dialogue within polarized Jewish communities
  • Planning a Sia’h Shalom Israel experience for spring 2024
