About us
Siach Shalom
Siach Shalom promotes a unique approach to fostering peace, drawing inspiration from Jewish thought, group facilitation, and psychodrama.
We believe this vision has the power to heal Israeli society by bridging social, communal, educational, and political divides.
To realize this goal, Siach Shalom offers transformative training programs for public leaders and community members.
These programs guide participants through innovative group processes, fostering meaningful connections, partnerships, and collaborative projects that span diverse sectors and areas of life.
What is ‘Peace’?
We believe that peace is a vision where every voice is heard and valued. It’s not about resolving conflicts or reaching compromises, but about creating a space where diverse perspectives are embraced and can coexist. The concept of ‘unity of opposites’ is central to this understanding of peace, suggesting that true peace emerges from the harmony of seemingly contradictory elements.
Who is Part of the Conversation?
We believe that a dialogue about peace must include everyone who seeks coexistence, even when their differences seem irreconcilable. Whether viewed in Israel as supporters or opponents of peace—left and right, secular, traditional, religious, conservative, or liberal, and people of different faiths—the “unity of opposites” can only exist when diverse voices are given the opportunity to be heard.
How Does It Work?
Our work unfolds within a group setting, or ‘circle’; where facilitation is rooted in the concept of ‘unity of opposites’. The goal is to bring this vision to life among the participants.
This process creates a space where personal and collective pain, conflicts, prayers, dreams, memories, and identities can be openly expressed. By engaging deeply with one another and our circles of belonging—family, community, and religion—participants are encouraged to explore both their individual and collective identities. Through active listening without trying to change the other’s perspective, they foster a space where diverse perspectives can coexist.
Imagine the shift from being trapped in a pit of unbearable conflict to emerging into a dynamic space of understanding and connection. Through the group process, the pit gradually fills with life-giving water, allowing participants to rise together, gain a deeper appreciation for each other’s needs, and see one another in a new light.
